Good Morning från Sverige!
Idag har vi våga sig ut i Göteborgs skärgård på våra egna ..... färjeturer, shopping, promenader och utforska ..... Bilder senare.
Later............
We had an excellent day again today. No pictures as we have packed up most of our things for our journey to Smaland tomorrow. Jan and everyone else has gone to bed as I sit here for a bit until I am tired.
We will post pictures again as soon as we are able.
What did we do today? Well, if you could figure out how to read the first sentences in this post, you will know. (hint: Google translate is great!)
Jan and I struck out on our own today, taking the tram/ferry to the southernmost island of the Gothenburg Archipelago, Vranjo. Along the way we saw dozens of small rocky islands, some inhabited, some not. Typical red or yellow houses lined the coastline and many islands had large marinas with private boats. Sailboats, runabouts, small adorable coastal boats and some cruisers were moored in their berths ready for an adventure.
The people who live out in the archipelago use the ferry system to get into the city to buy supplies and things. It looks to be quite an idyllic existence. We saw lots of flowers and a few swans. Seagulls probably outnumber the people. No cars on the islands, the residents get around with bicycles and heavier supplies are carried on specially equipped mopeds with a sort of a large flat bed attached, or a small trailer.
I could not help but to imagine myself in one of these cottages with a large extra building to hold my art supplies and be my special studio workshop...... maybe someday?
We returned to our starting point on the mainland and made our way to the tram station. We rode the tram into Gothenburg Main Station where we did a little shopping, but very little buying. Then back onto the tram for a ride back to the station near to Carina's home.
In the morning we are waking a little earlier than usual and Carina will drive us to Vaxjo, the nearest larger town to out ancestor's farm in Vastra Torsas.
We have some exciting touring to do in the area before we go to meet another cousin and his family on the 'family farm'.
We will try to catch up with photos tomorrow. Nearly 11 PM here now, so I should try to get some sleep I guess.
