Askhult Hamlet, Iron Age Cemetery

This morning  Cousin Carina drove us to a small hamlet or farming village that has been preserved as it was in the 1700-1880's. It was very interesting and set on a beautiful site overlooking a small lake in a very hilly, rocky area of Sweden.  The drive was beautiful.  We walked along picking wild blueberries for a little snack.  We saw a graveyard dating from the Iron Age (which ended in 1100 BC) - what an eerie feeling to walk among those stones.  We passed by magnificent yellow fields of rapeseed flowers (which they use to make canola oil).
Carina had to use the outhouse........and we got a little silly. We are getting to know her very well........maybe a little too well? It was a windy and fun day.

The 'farmer' -notice the bare feet. Shoes were not worn in the summer months because they were expensive and needed to last.
