The doorbell rang, and it was a surprise visit from Alex's grandfather Rudy, from Spain! Alex was feeling a bit queazy so after a short visit, she went up to bed.
After a lovely lunch, Alex's aunt, uncle and 3 cousins from Stockholm arrived.....We visited and had birthday cake before Alex woke up, feeling a little better and joined us to open her gifts.
Shortly after everyone left, Alex's grandmother, Brigita from Stockholm arrived....
We all went to bed early as we were going on a little journey to Denmark in the morning.
We took the car ferry over to Helsingor Denmark (a 20-minute ride) and drove a short distance to the Louisiana Modern Art Museum. Ir we a fabulous museum and we saw some really great pieces of artwork and had a wonderful lunch.
Can you guess the artist who created this painting?
Our favorite piece in the museum was a room which 2 ppl at a time could enter..it was a small room, totally lined with mirrors. Small lights hung from the ceiling and changed colors. The lights bounced off the mirrors in a never-ending reflection on reflection....totally simple, but completely mesmerizing.
After the museum, we walked around the very old city of Helsingor before returning to the Sweden side to our hotel for the night.
The date on this building is 1642!
Helsingor Denmark is the location of Kronborg Castle, which was the inspiration for the castle and story of Shakespeare's play "Hamlet"
Shakespeare called the Castle "Elsinore"
Hamlet's Castle, Elsinore
Sounds like a fun time in Denmark.
